Celebrating 70 years of marriage on Saturday are local Penally couple Pat and Wyn Phillips.

Both born and bred in Penally, they attended the village Primary school at the same time, however Wyn was five years older.

Wyn left school to work as a farmer with his family at Trefloyne Farm, while Pat went to work at TP Hughes in Tenby.

Romance blossomed between them at a Whist Drive in Penally Village Hall, this led to many happy memories of Young Farmer’s dances and balls.

They married in 1948 in St. Nicholas and St.Teilo’s Church, Penally.

Their son David was born the following year and six years later, daughter Cherry arrived, completing the family.

Pat’s main love has always been her family and she has dedicated her entire life to caring for them all - be it cooking for her elderly relatives or knitting clothes for all the children.

She has always been ’the rock’ of the family that everyone turns to for support and advice!

Wyn worked happily for many years as a Maintenance Operative at Lydstep Haven Caravan Park, until he ?nally retired well into his 70s.

Apart from his family, his great loves are Welsh rugby, his garden and his beloved dogs.

lt is now time for Pat and Wyn to take it easy and let their family look after them!

They enjoy frequent visits from their two children, three granddaughters and sevengreat-grandchildren, and they will all be celebrating this very special occasion with a family party this weekend!
