Members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority have given the go-ahead for the demolition of the former Reeves Calendars and Five Arches Press offices in Tenby to construct an affordable housing scheme on the site at Knowling Mead.
The planning application for the development submitted by Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd and Ateb Group, c/o Asbri Planning to include 29 residential dwellings, associated landscape and infrastructure works on land to the rear of Knowling Mead in Tenby was given approval by the committee at their meeting on Wednesday morning for the plans to be delegated to PCNPA’s chief executive/director of planning, to grant permission subject to conditions outlined, and Section 106 agreements.
In the case officer Andrew Richards’ report to the committee, he stated that the proposed dwellings are simply designed to reflect the location and existing character of this area of Tenby with key features of the design being ‘neutral rendered external finishes’ and ‘simple pitched roofs’.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s transportation and environment section indicated that they supported the proposed scheme subject to planning conditions to ensure a ‘construction traffic management plan’ is provided and agreed, with off-street parking facilities provided prior to first occupancy, and access roads and footpaths are also provided.
It was agreed that the ‘construction traffic management plan’ be fully implemented prior to the commencement of the development, to ensure that adequate and safe access is achieved during the construction period.
Speaking to his fellow councillors at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, ahead of the PCNPA meeting, Clr. Mike Evans told them that this was an ‘amazing’ application for Tenby, as the whole site was all for social housing, and there would be a local lettings policy implemented by Ateb.

“Access will be key during the demolition and construction phases at this site, to ensure that neighbouring properties are safeguarded,” he remarked.
