Plans for a new community hub in Manorbier will include carbon reducing measures supported by a potential National Park grant.
If approved this week, the South Ridgeway Community Association will receive £37,568 towards its Giraldus Hall ‘A Place for All’ project.
The funding is for a photovoltaic panel, battery storage and three electric vehicle charging points at the new community hub being build, a report to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park’s sustainable development fund committee states.
It adds that there is 180msq of usable roof space which will yield around 30kw plus, almost covering the calculated usage of the hub.
“The 3 EV charging stations will contribute to the county EV network and attract new users to the hub,” adds a report.
The total budget of the project is £46,960 and match funding of £9,392 has been secured as part of the Big Lottery People and Places grant.
“The project will make the new hub more energy efficient and provide a sustainable basis for future running costs as well as reducing carbon footprint. The group have demonstrated that they can deliver in the timescale and have the match funding in place representing value for money,” adds the officer recommendation for approval.
The committee will discuss this application, along with eleven others, in private at its meeting on January 20.
