Local councillors were given an update this week on a new housing property scheme in Tenby, due to be opened later this month.
It was reported before summer that that first priority would be given to Tenby North and South people when applications were considered with regards to the new development on the South Parade, which features a mix of two and one bedroom flats.
The idea was that ‘Tenby people’ in the town who wished to downsize and those that meet the criteria of having a local connection would be given a preference.
The properties have been built to Lifetime Homes Requirements, which means that they will meet the needs of a wide range of households, including families with pushchairs, as well as some wheelchair users.
Pembrokeshire Housing Association in partnership with WRW Ltd has constructed the development.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that the development was looking nice but that she hadn’t heard anymore on the decision to grant locals priority on the accommodation.
Clr. Mike Evans said that the scheme was specific for first lettings and was first and foremost for local people.
“The closing date is this Friday (today) for documentation to prove local connection, with September 19 the date for viewing and September 23 for handovers,” he told members.
“Pembrokeshire Housing Association have offered to come to speak yo us in the future to talk about the success of this scheme, and also other potential developments,” added Clr. Evans.
