Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet agreed this week to the demolition of Narberth’s old school building.
Members of the cabinet agreed at a meeting on Monday for the old school premises to be knocked down in March, with the planned work set to take between three to five weeks.
A tempoary car park will be created on site which will become part of the pay and display facility.
It was also agreed at the meeting that the county council’s strategic asset committee be tasked with looking at possible options for the site, after the selected developer had withdrawn from the project by mutual agreement with the authority before the New Year.
Local county councillor Wynne Evans stated: “A provision should include extra permanent parking spaces for up to 50 cars, but should include up to 10 disabled parking bays, as well as some one hour free parking bays, that would be monitored, as well as some rental flats for Pembrokeshire Housing Association, for local people on council waiting lists.”
