Plans for extension work to be carried out at a Tenby hotel have been supported by local councillors.

A pre-planning application from Leisureplex Ltd. proposing a four-storey extension and new vehicular access at the Cliffe Norton Hotel, came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.

The Grade II building, situated along the Norton above the resort’s North Beach, changed hands in July.

Members on the whole supported the development, but had one or two concerns on the siting of the access area, as they thought it might infringe on the pedestrian crossing nearby.

Clr. Dr. Peter Easy felt that hotel expansion in the town should be welcomed, and that a thorough traffic management survey would determine whether the vehicular access proposal was acceptable.

“Let’s be clear in our support for this application, they’re doing well for the town,” commented Clr. Paul Rapi.

Clr. Trevor Hallett suggested to his colleagues that some form of site visit would be beneficial.

Councillors’ views would be passed on to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
