Pembrokeshire County Council is confident that its regeneration programme for Haverfordwest is continuing to deliver lasting benefits for the town.

As part of the new Haverfordwest Footbridge and Western Quayside Phase 2 contract, community facilities at Bridge Meadow have been improved with part of the car park and footpath being resurfaced and extended.

These works carried out by Walters, the principal contractor for the new bridge and western quayside public realm improvements, on behalf of Pembrokeshire County Council.

The project has created more spaces for the football club users and visitors to the popular Cleddau Reaches Walk, while also upgrading the connecting path to make the area more accessible for the wider community.

These works have been carried out in partnership with the Bridge Meadow Haverfordwest Trust, a charity managed by Haverfordwest Town Council.

Councillor Roy Thomas, Vice Chairman of the Bridge Meadow Haverfordwest Trust commented: “The laying of the new stone on the car park and pathway has been very welcome, benefitting not only patrons of Haverfordwest County AFC but also the many people who park here to enjoy the Bridge Meadow area as a whole.

“We are grateful to Walters for carrying out these improvements to such a high standard, and to Pembrokeshire County Council’s Regeneration Team for ensuring this project was included within the wider programme of town enhancements. These works will leave a lasting benefit for our community and visitors alike.”

Other contributions have included the installation of new signage for the Cleddau Reaches Walk, the repurposing of a bin store from the library site to the Havergardd Community Garden, and sponsorship for Haverfordwest High VC School’s rugby tour to South Africa.

Local Member, Cllr Thomas Tudor, said: “As County Councillor for the Castle Ward, I welcome this community partnership approach with Walters and the Bridge Meadow Haverfordwest Trust, to resurface and extend part of the car park.

“This will be greatly appreciated by users of Haverfordwest County AFC clubhouse and visitors to the popular Cleddau Reaches walk, with the improvements to the connecting path, including the installation of new signage for the Cleddau Reaches walk and the sponsorship for pupils from Haverfordwest High VC School’s rugby tour to South Africa. Excellent news all round.”
