Work to carry out alterations to the interior of Tenby’s De Valence Pavilion has begun.
Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, recently told her fellow councillors that the hall of the building would be off limits for most of February and March to allow for refurbishment works to improve facilities such as the toilets, dance floor and bar area.
“Work on the toilet facilities is underway, with access work to allow entry to the new kitchenette area also starting,” she said at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council.
The town clerk emphasised that it was only the De Valence’s hall area that would be closed for this period, and not the town council offices located at the building or the café at the front.
Clr. Mrs. Brown said that the event held at the venue on Saturday featuring DJ Judge Jules was the best night she had seen at the De Valence for a single event.
“We took more money at the bar that night than ever before, and the feedback we’ve received from those that attended the event has been tremendous.
“The music might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, for example when the smoke machine was used, it set the fire alarms off... and I mistook it as the music still playing!” she joked.
The De Valence will soon welcome another big name DJ before the summer, with Craig Charles and his ‘Funk and Soul Club’ set to appear on Friday, June 29.
