A planning application proposing to build four self-catering lodges and associated infrastructure, in Bethesda, near Narberth, looks set to be refused.

The application submitted by Mr. and Mrs. Bowen, of Bethesda Farm Shop, Rose Villa, is set to be discussed by Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee at a meeting on Tuesday.

In a report from PCC’s director of development set to go before the committee, it is recommended that delegated power be given to the Interim Head of Planning to refuse the application, as the site is located outside of any defined settlement boundary and is not well related to a Town, Service Centre or Service Village, and therefore contrary to the requirements of the Local Development Plan.

It is also stated that the proposal would result in the encroachment of self-catering development into the countryside, which would have a detrimental impact on the visual amenity of the area, and would consequently not be compatible with the capacity and character of the site.
