A charity football match organised earlier this year by Alison Yates in memory of her late son Phil, raised a fantastic total of £1,996.10 for MIND Pembrokeshire (writes Sharron Hardwick).
Phil loved football and played for both Tenby and Kilgetty. Alison organised the memorial match at Kilgetty AFC where team members from Tenby and Kilgetty joined to play football in Phil’s honour and raise funds for MIND Pembrokeshire. £1,316.10 was raised at the memorial match and £680 from the Just Giving page.
Alison met this week with Lukas Gamble (Kilgetty team manager), and Carol Freeman (Santander branch manager) to present the £1,996.10 cheque to Lydia Salerno (MIND Pembrokeshire office manager).
“In the three years we’ve known Alison she’s become such an important part of the MIND family. We are hugely thankful for all she does for us. Alison’s amazing efforts have not only raised lots of funds, but her enthusiasm has made her an ambassador for MIND, spreading the word and gaining more support.” shared Lydia Salerno, (MIND).
Philip (Phil) Yates passed away on August 14, 2015, due to depression and had only been ill for a very short time. Alison hopes that the funds raised for MIND will help others to get the help they need.
Thanks are expressed to team members, managers, and all who attended, supported and donated.
