Among matters discussed at a recent meeting of Pennar and Bufferland Community Association were the following:
P&BCA members' disapproval of the recently erected wind turbines: Rev. Roger Hart commented on the visual impact of the four gigantic wind turbines that had recently been erected on the north shore of the Milford Haven waterway. He thought them to be a visual obscenity, and he harboured doubts about their effectiveness as a way of 'decarbonising' the generation of electricity.
Ron Selby said he had read reports that the wind farms already operating could only produce their rated output for something like 30 per cent of the time, and this meagre performance is only achievable by subsidising their operation. The money for these ridiculous subsidies is raised by adding an increasing amount (presently about 12 per cent) to the end user's electricity bills.
Reinstating the 'Neighbourhood Watch' in the Pennar and Bufferland ward: Ron Selby (secretary) reported that he had distributed the 'Neighbourhood Watch' window/door stickers and explanatory pamphlets to all the households in Springfield Road and the three properties in lower section of Imble Lane. He went on to say that he had a few stickers and pamphlets surplus to his requirements, and that he would hand them to the other co-ordinators at the next monthly meeting. Ron mentioned that he had noticed that that Imble Close already had a metal 'Neighbourhood Watch' sign attached to a lamppost close to the entrance to the estate, and said he hoped that Springfield Road would soon have a similar sign quite soon.
