At the March meeting of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors, the finds of the month competition winners were:

Coins pre-1689 (Henry Vll half-groat 1495) - Jack Tree; coins 1689 onwards (Spanish half real, 1872) - Mike Smith; ancient artefacts (Georgian silver port label) - Steve Richards; modern finds (WW1 military police corps badge) - Jack Tree; finds outside Pembs. (leath tool, C1700) - Paul Williams.

It is the Prospectors Society’s 40th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, they are holding an open day at the Picton Centre Hall, Haverfordwest, on Saturday, June 10, between 12 and 4 pm. On display will be a large and varied selection of the many coins and artefacts that members find in Pembrokeshire, that give an insight into the county’s history. All are welcome, Entry is free, but a small donation for refreshments will be gratefully received towards the charity this year, which is Headway, Pembrokeshire-based in Haverfordwest.
