A new Channel 4 six-part series ‘Epic Wales – Valleys, Mountains and Coasts’ begins on Friday (August 6) revolving around people who live and work in and around the remarkable landscapes of Wales’ three National Parks.
From the jagged heights of Snowdonia in the north, through to the mountains and moorlands of the Brecon Beacons and the wild and rugged coast of Pembrokeshire - these places are not just a playground for tourists and adventurers – they’re also home to over 80,000 people.
Whilst they are famously popular tourist destinations, especially with most of us having to opt for staycations this year, it’s quite a timely look at these beautiful locations through the perspective of the people who make it their home. It’s a wonderful display of Wales’ natural beauty.
Some families have lived there for generations while others are relative newcomers, but they’re all proud to call their little slice of Wales ‘home’.
The programme features various people from Pembrokeshire, with the first episode including the last fisherman in the tiny port of Dale, Mark Gainfort (pictured) – as he embarks on his first trip off the season, laying out his lobster pots and later reeling in the catch, which he sells directly from his boat on the quayside.
The series will be shown at 8 pm on Friday nights.
