A celebration and presentation of members RNLI awards took place at our January lunchtime meeting in the Old Kings Arms Hotel Pembroke, courtesy of Guild Vice President, Mrs. Shirley Wheeler.

The ladies photographed are long standing current members of Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild. Each lady has contributed to different aspects of Guild fundraising for many years and they continue to do so.

The RNLI, so appreciative of their commitment and dedication, chose to recognise their support.

Viv has spent 27 years of her 31 years service arranging the annual Castlemartin Range Walk, which has raised over £110,000 during this time.

Vilma has served Pembroke Guild for 27 years originally selling Souvenirs with the late Kay Humber and then in latter years with Kay’s daughter Kath Klau. Vilma is an active member and outstanding cook, donating delicious dishes for fundraising buffets.

Margaret has served Pembroke Guild for 25 years. For most of this time as Pembroke Box Secretary. Margaret’s role being to drive around visiting Pembroke businesses and pubs, emptying and replacing their RNLI collecting boxes, at her own expense, which she continues to do.

These are just three members of a fundraising Guild who can honour the RNLI with 83 years service to date between them.

We are almost 30 members on Pembroke Guild which was founded 70 years ago this coming February 2019. Fundraising has continued without a break in the Pembroke area since 1949. Whilst writing we wish to thank everyone in the area for making this possible.

I must add, that for all of my 23 years membership and before, our meetings have been held at the Old Kings Arms, Pembroke, courtesy of our Vice President, Mrs Shirley Wheeler. A priceless contribution in addition to many other generous gestures from Shirley. Huge gratitude from myself and Guild members, Shirley also to Norman and your staff.

Finally, I should like to let you know of our next event.

We celebrate our 70th Anniversary and St. David’s Day on Friday, March 1 in Pembroke Town Hall being entertained by Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir - members will be donating the supper, serving Cawl or Leek and Potato Soup (vegetarian option) bread, cheese, Welsh Cakes and coffee.
