Pembroke RFC is gearing up for next Saturday afternoon’s 27th annual Summer Carnival. The Carnival procession assembles and starts off at 1 pm on Saturday, July 9, at The Commons; where the floats and fancy dress walkers assemble to be led by the VIBE SCHOOL OF DANCE, to the Crickmarren club grounds. On arrival at the ground, the Vibe group will be putting on a short display in the centre of the field.
Adding to the party mood as the parade marches through Main Street, cheered by the crowds will be the Pembrokeshire Vintage Cars and Bikes groups, along with the Vintage Tractors and local Fire Service. The carnival, which regularly attracts thousands of visitors, will then make its way to the main event, at the Club’s Field on Upper Lamphey Road.
At the grounds, there will be plenty to entertain everyone, with BBQ, a Raffle (FIRST PRIZE being £100 cash), a bouncy castle, side shows, rides and refreshments, and even some table sellers, with some pitches still available on the day at £10 each. The Junior section will also be putting on demonstrations of TAG and other age group games. During the afternoon the Mayor, Town Cryer and Henry VII will be acting as Judges for the various cash awards, which include Best Float, Best Fancy Dress for adult and child walkers, Best walking float etc.
To keep the carnival party mood going at the event, music will be provided between 2 and 6.30pm by the “ROCK N ROLLERS”, and later from 7.30 pm by another local band lead by Will Scott and Lionel’s disco.
There will also be a five-a-side football competition, run by the club’s senior players, playing for the Pembroke Town Council Shield, with entry costing £10 per team.
As always everyone of all ages is invited to come along and have a fun day.
