Plans for the refurbishment of a number of 'listed buildings' in Pembroke that would see them brought back into beneficial use, have been given the go-ahead by members of Pembrokeshire County Council's planning and rights of way committee.

An application submitted by WJG Investments Limited, seeking full planning permission for the creation of five ground floor retail units, 13 flats (seven one bed and six two bed units) and three houses (all one bed units), on sites located near Pembroke Castle, on Castle Terrace and North Gate Street, was approved by members of the planning committee who met on Tuesday at County Hall in Haverfordwest.

The scheme, which also includes the creation of a new area of public space along North Gate Street, was considered to be an "acceptable mix of retail and residential development," according to a report by the county council's director of development, Dr. Steven Jones, who recommended the application be approved.
