January 27's SOS national fundraising day for the RNLI this year supported the cost of replacing lifejackets for the lifeboat crews .
An all-weather crewman's jacket costs £350 and the inshore lifeboat crewman's £330. Pembroke Guild's SOS funds have reached over £1,500 which members can proudly send to the RNLI from their supporters in the locality.
Gratitude is extended on behalf of the Guild and the RNLI for their loyalty and generosity in making the fundraisers' efforts so worthwhile.
Pembroke Ladies Guild minute secretary, Sandra Thompson, and her husband Mac, hosted RNLI SOS at their home for the fourth year in succession raising £540.
Guests enjoyed 'Sider/Special Soup' and for the first time, tasted 'A Castleton Clanger' - Sandra's adaptation of the Cornish Clanger, a delicious sweet and savoury pasty, just some of the menu!
Joan Giles, another great chef on the Guild, and her husband Phil raised £166 at an evening at their home for the third year in succession.
Final good fortune was an SOS collection by the staff at RWE nPower and Alstom raising £734.
A huge thank you to all of the staff and to all of the hosts for SOS 2012, for your enthusiasm and commitment to this fundraising success for the RNLI - outstanding from this small corner of Pembrokeshire.
