Want to contribute something to the Bicentenary 'My Street' project? Got old photos around the house showing what things were like in your street in 'The Dock' when you were younger ? From June 4-25, there will be an exhibition in the library which will have three elements to it: 1. My Street research by a small group of enthusiasts who have done some research about their street. The streets covered are Church Street, North Street, Cross Park, Furzy Bank, Commercial Row and possibly a few others. The idea is that you can come along and see what they have found out from trawling through census information, old newspapers, family photos and their own memories! We are hoping that we will be able to scan any photos that you might want to bring along and then they will be added to our archive. Most importantly, we will not keep your photos, but will scan them while you wait! Alternatively, if you would like to scan them yourself then please send a copy to [email protected]">[email protected] We would also like people, once they have seen the exhibition, to give us any more titbits of information that we can add to our research so please come along and help us to record the recent histories of our streets. 2. Another opportunity to see the wonderful short film showing the digital re-construction of the dockyard by de Montfort University. 3. Artwork by local school children who have been thinking about what our town will be like in the future.
