St. Govan's B travelled to play the Alma A and came away with a resounding victory, while at the St. Govan's Inn, the A team suffered the Alma A's fate at the hands of the First and Last, who returned to winning ways.
At the Golf Club, the improving homesters inflicted yet another defeat on the struggling Charlton B in a much closer run result.
Meanwhile, the Charlton A team entertained the Alma B, who are still without a win in the league this year, with the convincing result going to the home side. Another relatively close game was at the Naval Club, where the visiting Oak took the points.
The match of the round was at the Station with the clash of the two Station sides, where the A team have led the table from this year's outset, chased closely by the B team.
On form, it was always going to be a tight match, and so it proved, although arriving at the break, the A held a comfortable eight-point lead.
They pinched another point lead in the picture round and with the fifth round tied, it was down to the last round, where anything can happen, and boy did it.
The A drew the first blood with a three-point answer, 12 points ahead and looking good, home and dry, then they hit the wall.
Tom steps up for the science question, Fungi, he replies, six points, exploration for the A, wrong and the B come up with Terra Nova for another three points and to heap on the A's misery Steve takes six for the pop music question and the B team lead for the first time on the night.
The Station A train has suddenly become a boat; it's stormy outside and in and when Alan fails on sport and Steve pops up with Jason Leonard, it's all over and the Station B sail to the top of the league, still unbeaten and with the night's highest score.
The full results for the night were: Alma A - 50.5, St. Govan's B - 72; Naval Club - 61.5, Oak - 68; Charlton A - 65.5, Alma B - 49; St Govan's A - 48, First and Last - 70; Station A - 72, Station B - 81; and Golf Club - 79, Charlton B - 72.
So the league table top now reads - Station B 27, Station A 24, Cosh Brewery 21, Charlton A 21, and the Alma A, First and Last and the Oak on 15.
