In the latest round of the quiz league, the question setters were the Charlton B and a challenging set they were. However, the Station B team found no problems returning from the Alma after beating the home A side with the highest score of the round. Having led from round one, it was a resounding win, with the Alma A quizzers putting the loss down to their pens!
The Alma B travelled to the Charlton to play their A team and continued their revival with an excellent win, whilst the closest game of the night was at the St. Govan's Inn where the home side shaded a narrow victory against the visiting Naval Club.
At the Station Inn, the A side continued their vein of good form, taking the lead in round one against the First and Last, and not relinquishing it to earn a convincing win.
The league leaders from the Oak made the journey to last year's champions Cosh Brewery and a close game seemed on the cards, but the homesters had by far the better of things and won easily.
After five weeks, the top of the table is littered with teams on nine points, seven in fact, with the Alma A leading the pack from the Oak, who slip to second, and the Alma B in third, all of whom have played five games, with Cosh, both Station teams and the Charlton B having played four.
The pick of next week's fixtures sees the Alma A entertaining the Station A, with a battle royal in prospect.
The week's results were as follows: Charlton A 51 Alma B 79; Station A 73 First and Last 50; Cosh Brewery 69 Oak 42; Alma A 46 Station B 83 and St. Govan's 65 Naval Club 63.
