Charlton A set an excellent round of questions for last Sunday's LVA quiz which produced some surprising results, with both unbeaten teams losing, leaving the early league table wide open.

Last year's league winners travelled to the Alma B and on the results to date would have fancied coming away with the points, but in a very good match, the home side led from the start and built up a healthy lead by the end of round five. However, in round six, Cosh Brewery began to pull back and with two six-pointers to their score, it looked like they would snatch victory, but the Alma team held their nerve, taking team questions to secure the result by four points.

Meanwhile, the present league leaders, Charlton A, hosted the Station A and saw their unbeaten start overwhelmingly shattered.

The Station B entertained the First and Last and the visitors went off like a rocket and at the end of round two led by 11 points. But round by round the Station pegged this back to two points after round five and with a six-pointer, plus a Passover in round six, the home side grabbed glory from the jaws of defeat to win by four points from very unlucky opponents.

Elsewhere, there were strong victories for both the Alma A at the Naval Club and the Oak at home to the visitors from St. Govan's. After this round, the Oak top the table from the Alma A and the Charlton B, all on nine points from four games, with the Alma B after four games, Cosh Brewery, and both Station teams after three games, on six points.

Results for the round were as follows: Charlton B 56 Station A 82; Oak 89 St. Govan's 64; Alma B 73 Cosh Brewery 69; Station B 65 First and Last 61 and Naval Club 63 Alma A 93.
