The Pembroke and Pembroke Dock LVA quiz league resumed after the Christmas/New Year break with a set of questions set by the Charlton A and produced some tantalisingly close finishes.

None more so than at the Alma where the B team, the league leaders, were playing the Charlton B, who were trying to regain some of their credibility after a very poor run of results.

The result finally came down to the very last question of the match, with the Charlton side five points adrift and needing to answer the final six-point question to win.

Unfortunately, the wrong answer was given and the home side picked up the three points bonus for the correct answer to win by a flattering eight-point margin with the highest total score of the night.

This result pushes them nine points clear at the top of the league, with both second and third placed teams not playing this round, but now having a game in hand.

At the Oak, the two teams could not be separated and the visiting Naval Club team left with a creditable draw.

In another close run match, the Station A travelled to Pembroke to play the Con Club and came away victors by just two points, whilst the same margin separated the First and Last and the Alma A, with the win going to the home side.

The remaining fixture saw Cosh Brewery travel to St. Govan's and come away comfortable victors.

Results for the week were: Oak 70 Naval Club 70; Con Club 70 Station A 72; First and Last 59 Alma A 57; St. Govan's 44 Cosh Brewery 67 and Alma B 75 Charlton B 67; Station B bye.
