Local school pupils have received praise from Buckingham Palace on their design work for this year’s Tenby in Bloom competition.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of the resort’s ‘in bloom’ committee, told her colleagues that the palace’s ‘lady in waiting’, The Hon Mary Morrison, had written a letter of thanks, following Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations earlier this year.

“Her Majesty was interested to learn The Queen’s 90th birthday celebration was chosen as the theme for this year for the committee’s annual art competition in which the pupils of local primary schools are invited to create promotional posters supporting the work of Tenby in Bloom,” read the letter.

“Her Majesty was pleased to hear of the event’s success, and The Queen was delighted to receive a selection of the entries, and was touched by how much effort and care each child has taken with their design,” added the correspondence.

Clr. Mrs. Lane said it would be nice for all the local schools that took part in the competition to receive a copy of the letter, and for it to be framed and displayed in the Mayor’s Parlour.
