Create your own BFG-inspired dream-catcher, listen to live local music and browse craft stalls, before seeing one of the world’s greatest paintings – all in one spot at Oriel y Parc’s free Summer Fayre on Saturday, August 6.
The St Davids gallery and visitor centre, managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, will have all the fun of the fayre from 10am-4pm, with stalls by local artists, crafts makers, producers and much more.
There will be face-painting, live music from The Shooting Counters and Fishguard Folk Singers and the chance to join in fantastic family art workshops and see a range of exhibitions.
Celebrating 100 Years of Roald Dahl, Oriel y Parc’s popular craft workshops will be running for accompanied children from 10am-12noon and from 1pm-3pm, with the chance to make and take home a dream-catcher, a Mr Twit’s beard, a Fantastic Mr Fox finger puppet or a George’s Marvellous Medicine bottle.
Oriel y Parc Manager Jenn Jones said: “Once again we are delighted to be hosting around 20 artists and crafts makers who are bringing their produce to Oriel y Parc.
“There is always a great atmosphere at the fayre, helped this year by the Pembrokeshire musicians who have volunteered to perform for us all.
“The family art workshops will fire up the imagination and for even more inspiration you can visit our main gallery exhibition to see one of the greatest paintings in the history of British art, John Constable’s Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows.”
Entry is free, with the Roald Dahl workshops £2 per accompanied child.
