Sian O’Doherty, an award-winning textile designer, is hosting artists and makers from across West Wales in a festive Open Studio event.
There is sure to be plenty of Christmas inspiration at Ash Farm, near Stepaside on the weekend of December 15 and 16, where Sian O’Doherty creates luxury machine knitted products for people and homely spaces, inspired by the Pembrokeshire landscape and her Welsh heritage.
Fleece from her herd of alpacas is used in many of her designs - as well as in her exclusive new alpaca yarn, which Sian recently launched this autumn. A chance to meet the friendly creatures is sure to be an additional attraction at the Open Studio as well as at the year-round knitting machine workshops taught there by Sian for all skill levels.
It’s a special event to showcase the superb talent of Sian, (who recently was honoured the best maker in Wales award at Made by Hand, Cardiff) and her studio guests who will be Sarah Hatton of Hatton Willow, Gill Oakley of Stone Hen Ceramics, Will’s Upholstery, Four Seasons Farm Shop, Floristry by Victoria Mansell, textile artists Alison Moger and Claire Cawte and jewellery designer Sian Reason-Jones. You will be sure to find the inspiration you have been looking for to fill those remaining gaps in your Christmas shopping lists.
The Open Studio will feature mulled wine, festive cheer and plenty of home-made cakes supplied by the Welsh Collection tea rooms in Narberth.
The event will also be launching a new collection of workshops being introduced for 2019 across an exciting selection of crafts. From hand-spinning, willow weaving, hand-knitting, machine embroidery, ceramics, basket-weaving, jewellery enamel and print. You are sure to be spoilt for choice with wonderful gift ideas for creative loved ones.
Sian looks forward to seeing you at the open studio weekend and sharing the Christmas festivities with you all.
Entry and refreshments are free over the event which will be open from 11am-4pm. Ash Farm can be found at Ivy Chimney Lane, Stepaside SA67 8JU but for more detailed information, including driving directions, please see www.sianodoherty.co.uk
