Amongst All Blacks is an insight into what it’s like to work and live amongst one of the great rugby nations, from Tenby sporting aficionado and physio Ross Llewellyn.
The book, a collection of small tales, details the memoirs of Ross over a six year period working as a physiotherapist for the East Coast Bays Rugby Football Club on the North Shore of Auckland.
If you like travelling, have that drop it all attitude and want to get away from the ‘rat race’, then this book is for you.
From 1994 to 2000, rugby loving Welshman Ross, who now runs a physiotherapist practice in Tenby’s Warren Street, decided to shake off the shackles of London life and follow his dream, heading south to Australia and then New Zealand, to live the dream!
Armed with a carpe diem attitude he suddenly found himself in a place where he was quickly accepted into the community.
“Initially I went out to Australia just to do some travelling, but ended up gaining residency in New Zealand, after my work as a physiotherapist allowed me to stay,” explained Ross.
As well as detailing some amusing stories of his time in New Zealand, the book is about grasping life with both hands.
“I was 29 years-old at the time, so it’s about getting off your backside, and taking every chance in life, as I wanted to see different parts of the world,” he continued.
“I was very lucky to become quickly involved with the East Coast Bays club, which had ‘All Blacks’ players in their ranks and close connections to ex-internationals.”
The book, published by Design Marque, is available to buy at Tenby Bookshop on Tudor Square, and copies can also be purchased from Ross’ physiotherapist practice in Warren Street or by contacting him on 01834 843640.
