As previously reported, the death occurred suddenly, but peacefully of Mrs. Shirle Weeks, née Williams.

She was brought up in Penally, but moved to Portsmouth in 1957 when she married.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Mick, sister Margaret and brother Keith, she leaves to mourn her two daughters and sons-in-law Nicola and Lucky, Michelle and Kaei, two grandsons Timo and Juha and her partner John. Also her sisters Olive, Wendy, Jean, Carol, Brenda and Heather, her brothers-in-law Bill, David and Dai and their families.

She was greatly loved and will be so sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Up to the time of death, she was still doing voluntary work for Age UK where she was able to help so many people.

The funeral was held on July 10 at Porchester Crematorium which was full to capacity.

Shirle was very proud of her Welsh roots, and during the service, the organist played Cwm Rhondda and the Welsh National Anthem.

There were family flowers only, but if desired donations may be sent to ‘Age UK Portsmouth,’ The Bradbury Centre, 16-18 Kingston Road, Portsmouth, PO1 5RZ.

The funeral director was Mr. Simon Thetford, 245 Fratton Road, Portsmouth PO1 5PA.
