Mrs. Elizabeth Joy Hyland

Tenby

A large gathering of family and friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Joy Hyland which took place on August 16 at Holyrood and St. Teilo Catholic Church, Tenby.

Joy lived in Tudor Way, Tenby, and was aged 81 years.

She was born at Tenby Harbour in 1935, the second in a family of seven children.

Joy leaves to mourn her husband Richard, sons Steve and Tony, grandson Tom and Joy’s family Fay and Bill, Kay and Gerald, Pat and Mike, David, Irene and Dickie and many friends.

Joy attended Greenhill School where she played hockey and also later worked there as a meal supervisor; she also worked as a shop assistant in Tenby. A very good swimmer, she particularly enjoyed sea swimming.

Joy was also a competent keyboard player, but just played for her own enjoyment.

The Mass was conducted by Father Owen McGreal and Father Michael Fewell. Bearers were Tony and Tom Hyland, David and Dickie Lewis.

Following the church service, Joy was laid to rest at Tenby New Cemetery.

There were family flowers only, with donations, if desired, made payable to Macmillan Cancer Support, c/o funeral directors, Messrs. W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons Ltd., The Old Rectory, The Norton, Tenby, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

KILGETTY

The death occurred peacefully at home on Friday, August 12, of Mr. Thomas Woolley, affectionately known as Tom, aged 77 years, of Newton Terrace, Kilgetty.

Devoted husband of the late Sylvia, loving dad of Raymond and Mandy, treasured Bampe to Sian and Arian.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 23, at 11 am, at St. Mary’s Church, Begelly, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

LLAWHADEN

The death occurred at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, on Thursday, August 11, of Mrs. Alice Sylvia Heggie, fondly known as Sylvia, aged 80 years of Llawhaden.

Sylvia leaves a son Christopher and daughter-in-law Celia.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 26, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 11.30 am.

PEMBROKE DOCK

The death occurred peacefully at Bush House Care Home, Pembroke, on Saturday, August 13, of Mrs. Margaret Long, affectionately known as Peggy, aged 93 years, formerly of Brewery Street, Pembroke Dock.

Peggy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 24, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 11.30 am.

SAUNDERSFOOT

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Glangwili Hospital on Saturday, July 30, of Mr. John Deverson, aged 72, of 49 Sandyhill Park, Saundersfoot.

The funeral took place on Tuesday, August 9, at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, followed by a memorial service at St. Johns Church, Tenby.

John was the much loved husband, father, grandad and great-grandad to Jen, Paul and Kathrin, Jo and Tim, Sophie, Amy, Dan, Angharad and Cameron.

The death occurred peacefully at her home on August 10 of Christine Elizabeth Mary Mathias. She was aged 76.

Beloved wife of Clem and mother of Graham, Brian, Robert and Sheila, mother-in-law to Jane, Jason and Maria. Sister of Violet, Alan, Clifford, Michael and Patrick, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The funeral will take place at St. Teilo’s Church, Tenby, today (Friday, August 19), at 10.30 am. This will be followed by a short service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 12.15 pm.

Peacefully at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen, in her 100th year, Ivy, of Trevaughan Lodge, Whitland.

Beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Rachel Roberts, dearest aunt to all her nephew and nieces.

The death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Friday, of Mr. Vincent Lewis, of Ash Park, Kilgetty.

Aged 90, he was much loved by all his family and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Mrs. Betty Barbara Parsons (nee Brown), of Pennar, Pembroke Dock, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 11, surrounded by her family, at her home in Bentlass Terrace. She was aged 80.
