Mr. G. G. Thomas
Pembroke
Mr. George Gurfil Thomas (known as Garfield) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. He was 82.
He was the second son of five children and was born and lived in Pembroke all his life.
He had various jobs. He was a signal man at Pembroke Station for many years. Then later he was employed at Pembroke Power Station until his retirement.
He married Joan in 1962 and they celebrated their golden wedding in 2012. They had two children, Neil and Nicola, and three grandchildren, Emma, Liam and Anna, whom he loved dearly.
He was a member of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club and played for the first and second team for many years and also played for the county until illness prevented him.
In his younger days he was a very good darts player.
He was a linesman for Pembroke Town Football Club and then Monkton Swifts. He enjoyed all sport.
He was also relief steward at Monkton Swifts Social Club for many years, then Pembroke Power Club.
A service of celebration was held at Monkton Priory Church, followed by interment at Monkton Cemetery, which was attended by a very large gathering of family, friends and neighbours. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
The family left to mourn are Joan (wife); Neil (son) and Mel; Nicola and Kevin (daughter and son-in-law); Emma (granddaughter); Liam (grandson); Anna (granddaughter); Albert and Theresa (brother and sister-in-law); Gerald and Betty (brother and sister-in-law); Maurice and Christine (brother and partner); Keith (brother-in-law); also other relatives, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by his sister Audrey.
Officiating at the funeral was Rev. Paul Nash, while the bearers were Andrew and Eamonn Thomas, Ian Thomas, Kevin and Jonathan Thomas (all nephews) and Kevin Dearden (son-in-law).
The eulogy was by Gerald (brother).
A tribute was given by Maurice (brother) and a poem was read by Ann (friend).
At the end of the service, his son Neil Thomas sang Danny Boy, a great favourite of his dad’s.

The death occurred at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen, on Wednesday, August 26, of Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Storer, of Westfield Road, Saundersfoot.
Aged 76, Mrs. Storer was predeceased by her son Kevin, but is survived by daughter Kay, grandson and fiancé Jas and Soph, great-grandchildren Milo and Klay, brother and sister-in-law John and Ann, daughter-in-law Sarah and Auntie Dorothy.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday at Cold Inn Chapel, at 2 pm, followed by interment in the churchyard.

As reported last week, the death occurred peacefully at Woodland Lodge Care Home, Gumfreston, of Mr. Wooder Wickland BEM. He was aged 89.
Wooder was predeceased by his wife Thrisa, but is survived by daughter Sandra, son and daughter-in-law John and Andrea, granddaughter Kim and her husband Gary, granddaughter Michelle and her husband Roy, grandson Christopher and his wife, and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service takes place on Monday, September 7, 11.30 am, at St. Mary’s Church, Tenby, and will be followed by interment at Tenby New Cemetery.

The death occurred recently of Mr. John Anthony Evans, of The Willows, Swallowtree, Saundersfoot, who passed away peacefully at his home with his family around him.
