Tenby

The funeral of Mr. John Vivian Daniels, affectionately known as Viv, took place on Friday, November 17, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth.

Family and friends then celebrated Viv’s life with a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Johns Church, Tenby, conducted by Rev. Nanette Lewis- Head.

Viv, who was 83-years-old, passed away peacefully at Brooklands Nursing Home, Saundersfoot, on November 6.

Viv was a devoted family man and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret, and his two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Ian and Helen and Iain. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and his partner Samantha and great-grandchild Samantha, Angharad and her husband Joe, Lewys and Rachel and her partner Matt, his brother Geoffrey and wife Caroline, his brother David and wife Gay, his sister-in-law Yvonne and her husband John, brothers-in-law Daniel and Leighton and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Marilyn and Wendy.

Viv was a native of Alltwen, Pontardawe, and was educated at Pontardawe Grammar School. His work took his young family from the Swansea Valley to Gloucester and then back to his beloved Wales, when he took up employment at Pembroke Power Station in 1970. He was an instrument technician for 21 years until his retirement in 1991.

Viv was well-known for his dry sense of humour and love of music, especially Welsh male voice choirs. Viv lived for many years in Tenby before retiring to Wedlock Mead, Gumfreston, where he enjoyed tending to his large garden and spent many hours pursuing his woodworking and DIY hobbies.

Mr. G. T. Griffiths

Pembroke Dock

Mr. Geoffrey Thomas Griffiths, known as Geoff, of Milton Terrace, Pembroke Dock, aged 75 years, passed away on November 6, at home.

A native of Pembroke Dock, he was formerly of Jeffreyston.

His working life was spent as a sales assistant, TV engineer, greenkeeper.

His main interests were fishing, golf, cricket and bridge.

He leaves to mourn his wife Joyce Griffiths, John, son, Elizabeth, daughter and Den, partner, Logan, grandson, Ann and Ray, sister and brother-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces.

Bearers were Steve Hughes, Denzil Muccay, Peter Rice and Colin Beynon.

The funeral service took place on November 15 at St. Jeffrey and St. Oswald Church, Jeffreyston, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Father Paul Davies officiated.

Mr. S. Barlow

Kilgetty

The funeral took place recently of Mr. Stephen Barlow, of Greenacre Village, Kilgetty.

He was 67 and passed away on October 26 at home.

A native of Bury, Lancashire, he was the owner of taxi business Jeffcabs, having moved to Pembrokeshire in 1984.

His main interests were football, fishing, snooker and holidays.

He is survived by wife Margaret, Stephen, Karen (children), Rachel, Ryan, Billy and Daniel (grandchildren), Gordon (brother), Susan and Julie (sisters).

Bearers were Stephen, Dave, Gordon and Jamie.

The funeral service took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on November 10. Rev. Caroline Mansell officiated.

Mrs. J. M. Cole

Narberth

The funeral took place on Monday, November 20, at St. Andrew’s Church, Narberth, of Mrs. Joyce Margaret Cole.

Aged 95, Joyce was a resident at Blaenmarlais Care Home, Narberth, where she passed away peacefully on November 7.

A native of Guildford, Surrey, she joined the RAF in a nursing capacity during World War 2. After bringing up her four children, she returned to nursing at the Old County Hospital, Haverfordwest, for many years. Joyce loved her snooker, football, coach trips, bingo and lived for her family.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband William Harold Cole and daughter Pamela, but survived by sons Raymond and Peter, daughter Janet and families.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Martin Cox, the bearers were grandsons Daniel, Andrew, Matthew and Christian. Hymns were How Great Thou Art and Abide with Me. Joyce was laid to rest in the church cemetery with her husband William Harold Cole following the service in church.
