Today (Friday), 12 cyclists are heading off to North Wales from Pembrokeshire to embark on a 200-mile endurance challenge that will see them cycle from Holyhead to Withybush General Hospital, all in aid of the Chemotherapy Day Unit Appeal Fund.

This is no ordinary group of cyclists; this group represent a new to cycling nurse, Jan Richards, who could barely cycle 10 miles at Christmas, along with one of her recovering patients, Simon Rossiter, who is attempting to complete the challenge on a tandem bike with his best mate Chris Brace and their combined family and friends.

Everyone from the newbie to the Ironman, this gang have come together to challenge themselves, to support each other and most importantly to raise as much money as possible for the Withybush Chemotherapy Day Unit Appel fund (www.everyclick/challengeCANCER)

The team have been overwhelmed by the support they have received so far and the generosity of the people and businesses in Pembrokeshire. The team would like to thank Station Self Drive, Enterprise Cycles, of Neyland, Crossways Service Station, of Neyland, Fred Rees Skoda Dealership, Enterprise Care Hire, W. and M. J. Rossiter Funeral Directors, N. D. Toy and Partners Ltd Independent Financial Advisers, Big Brums and Corrie Williams. of Olorun Sports.

Chris and Simon would also like to thank Carl Evans for allowing them to smash his tandem bike up… sorry they actually mean for allowing them to borrow his tandem bike, promising to bring it back in one piece!

If you haven’t sponsored the team yet, there’s still time and plenty of ways to do so. You can call into the Chemotherapy Unit at Withybush Hospital and see Jan or any of the nursing team, call in at the Chemotherapy Day Unit appeal fund shop, which is on the Riverside in Haverfordwest, or, go to www.everyclick/challengeCANCER to donate online.
