Proposals to introduce parking restrictions to prevent campervans and motorhomes staying overnight in an area of Tenby are set to be put forward.
Members of Tenby town council were informed at their meeting on Tuesday night that Pembrokeshire County Council would shortly be advertising proposals to change restrictions in various locations across the county, with two changes proposed for Tenby.
A proposal to introduce ‘no waiting’ 8 pm to 7 am restrictions for caravans and motor caravans at The Croft is being put forward.
“Attention has been drawn to the practice of sleeping overnight with alleged disposal of waste on the adjacent grass in this area in the absence of local facilities,” said PCC’s head of infrastructure Darren Thomas in correspondence that came before councillors.
“The proposal relates to the 151 metre length at the upper end of The Croft below Fairfield where unrestricted parking currently takes place.”
A further proposal to introduce ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions at Slippery Back has also been put forward.
“This should improve access to Mayfield Drive and the cemetery,” added Mr. Thomas.
Commenting on the proposals, Clr. Paul Rapi said: “We do need this” with his colleague the Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown agreeing. “There will be arguments, but we do need this,” she said.
