Dyfed-Powys Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after the assault in question, which took place in White Lion Street (close to the Norton) at approximately 7 pm on Saturday.
The couple who were involved in the altercation, Samantha and her partner Frederick, who live in Pembroke, were driving along The Norton that evening, trying to find a place to park as they were about to go out for a meal together, when two males, both described as being around 20-years-old, launched themselves at their vehicle and started banging on the bonnet and taunting the couple through the windscreen.
"We were stopped by the lads, who were clearly very drunk, as we pulled up to the roundabout coming up The Norton towards the town centre and when we got out to try and get one of them to stop, they both attacked my partner and injured him very badly," explained Samantha.
"By the time the police arrived, which was within minutes, they had been shepherded away by their sober girlfriends to a property nearby, we think."
Frederick sustained cuts and bruising to his face and was taken to hospital via ambulance. The couple say that police have had no luck so far in tracing the offenders and officers are still seeking witnesses who may have information to come forward
"We feel so shaken by the incident as this was a pretty serious and traumatic ordeal," continued Samantha.
"My partner lost his 12-year-old son earlier in the year and this was the first time we've managed to go out and treat ourselves since his tragic death.
"It feels so sad that these boys not only injured my partner severely, but also traumatised the both of us, caused loss of work for my partner and has created a great deal of upset for our children who are still struggling from the loss of their brother. Plus we never got the chance to go out and relax together for the first time in a very long time indeed," she added.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact PC920 Phil Jones at Pembroke Dock or Tenby police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
