Cross Country Running 2011
Pembroke Dock Community School had a good afternoon running at Orielton Fields. They were sporting new athletic vests sponsored by local businessman Dean Cook. For the second year running, the team won the overall championship. Medal winners were as follows: Year 4 girls, bronze medal Louise Mear; Year 4 boys, gold medal, Kieran Smith, with the team of Kieran, James Davies and Steven Brown first overall; Year 5 girls, bronze medal, Amy Scaife; Year 5 boys gold medal, Gareth Finnegan; Year 6 girls, gold medal, Macy Turner, silver medal, Millie Hillier-Wood, with the team of Macy, Millie and Pauline Kral first overall; Year 6 boys, gold medal, Jamie Wilkes; silver medal, Ryan Jordan, with the team of Jamie, Ryan and Gethin Bradney first overall.
Runners also went to the county cross country running competition at Oakwood. The following pupils were placed in the top 10: Year 4 girls - Louise Mear, sixth; Year 6 girls - Macy Turner, eighth, and Millie Hillier-Wood, ninth; Year 6 boys - Jamie Wilkes, second, and Ryan Jordan, third.
Urdd Gala 2011
Swimmers from Pembroke Dock Community School took part in the Urdd Gala at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.
The Year 5 and 6 team swam in the morning, but were unfortunately unplaced overall. They were Shannon Hutchinson, Millie Hillier-Wood, Sophie Davies, Phoebe Griffiths, Curtis Jennings, Tom Probert, Luke Davies, Ieuen Roberts and Richard Orchard.
The Year 4 team of Martha Wilson, Nia Williams, Louise Mear, Kirsty Cook, Dewi Hutchinson, Stephen Brown, Kyle Jenkins and Ethan Kettle swam in the afternoon. The following were placed overall: 1. Martha Wilson, backstroke; 1. Nia Williams, freestyle; 2. Louise Mear, breaststroke; 4. Ethan Kettle, backstroke. The girls relay team was placed third in the freestyle and fourth in the medley. The boys relay team was placed first in the medley and second in the freestyle.
All first place individuals and relay teams go forward to the national finals in Cardiff on January 28.
