Plans are being developed to create a new public transport interchange at Pembroke Dock railway station.

The interchange would be located on unused land north of the station and will provide a central hub for passengers enabling easier transfers between bus and rail services.

Clr. Jamie Adams, cabinet member for highways and planning said the benefits of the proposed interchange would be considerable.

"The surrounding area of Pembroke Dock will be provided with a better transport system, with easy transfer from bus to rail services and vice-versa," he said.

"The scheme will benefit the local and regional economy and improve links with the town."

The proposed development works, for which the study work to date has been funded by the Regional Transport Plan (RTP) through the South West Wales Integrated Transport Consortium (SWWITCH), included: a new junction and road off Water Street into the site; bus stops provided within the site; car parking and pick up/ drop off point; link directly to the station building and platform; cycle parking, bus shelters, seating and signage.

The regeneration works also include improvements to the existing station car park and paved areas.
