A set of road traffic restriction proposals to introduce new or revoke existing waiting restrictions on areas of Tenby have been put forward by Pembrokeshire County Council.

Proposals listing alterations two streets in Tenby - The Croft and Greenhill Avenue - currently being formally advertised as part of the statutory process associated with the making of the new Traffic Regulation Order - came before members of Tenby town council at their meeting on Tuesday night in correspondence from PCC’s Head of infrastructure Darren Thomas.

New restrictions shown for The Croft are a ‘prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading at any time’ and prohibit vehicles from parking (including blue badge holders) where indicated by the presence of yellow transverse markings on the kerb.

The proposals will take into account from a point 28 metres north of the junction with The Norton, northwards for a length of 44 metres, on the West side of The Croft; and a length of 82 metres from the Norton junction on the East side of the street.

The order will also see the reintroduction of resident permit parking bays along the East side of The Croft from a point 19 metres north of the boundary of Harbour Heights/Richmond House.

Issues of what has been labelled as ‘inconsiderate’ parking along the street have been highlighted recently; with County Councillor Michael Williams, who represents the Tenby North ward telling members of the town council on Tuesday night that an increase in the number of ‘all year round’ residents along The Croft, had seen the call for more resident permit bays being introduced.

“The resident bays in that section had been done away with previously, but the proposal is to now revert them back to what they were,” he said.

The town clerk Andrew Davies confirmed that the bays for six spaces currently allowed unrestricted parking in that section, but the plans would see them reestablished as resident bays.

A ‘no waiting at any time’ proposal for vehicles along the West side of the street on Greenhill Avenue from a point 25 metres north of the junction with Warren Street northwards for a length of 22 metres has also been advertised by PCC.
