Two new members are sought for a body that reviews and scrutinises policing services across Dyfed-Powys.

The Joint Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable Audit Committee has three independent members but requires two additional colleagues.

Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon said: "Those applying should have a passionate commitment to securing the best possible policing service for Dyfed-Powys.

"We're looking for two enthusiastic, high-calibre and focused individuals to sit as independent members."

Those interested in joining the audit committee may have skills and experience in performance management, financial management or governance.

The body is integral to the governance arrangements that support the delivery of efficient and effective police service. It reviews and scrutinises the affairs of both the Dyfed-Powys Police and the Office of the Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner.

It looks at issues such as risk management, internal control and corporate governance. It oversees audit arrangements and reviews financial statements.

Its first meeting was held on March 5. It is due to meet again at Police Headquarters, Llangunnor, Carmarthen, on June 5, in the early afternoon, September 26, at 10.30 am, and December 10, at 10.30 am. Committee meetings are open to the public.

Commissioner Mr. Salmon said: "Good corporate governance requires independent, effective assurance about the adequacy of internal control, financial management and reporting, risk management as well as anti-fraud and corruption arrangements.

"The Audit Committee exists to provide independent assurance that there are adequate controls in place to mitigate key risks and to provide assurance that the Commissioner and Chief Constable are operating effectively."
