Tonight (Friday) Narberth will be switching on its Christmas lights, with live music and a special appearance by Santa. The festivities start at 5 pm, and shops will be open until 6.30 pm.

A message from the Mayor of Narberth: What can I say about Christmas in Narberth that has not been said by me or any of my fellow Mayors in the past? We pride ourselves on quality, value and customer service. We have a great variety of businesses that support and help each other and the town. Customers come from far and wide to our friendly town.

I send season’s greetings to all the residents of this great town. I wish them health, wealth and happiness at this time. Christmas is about more than how much we spend or how many gifts we get. We all try to help the planet by recycling and reducing our waste this time of year too. Do your bit by shopping local and thus reducing your fuel consumption.

That said, Christmas is a time we can all indulge a little, so I am asking you to do it in Narberth. Ladies, gents, children and toddlers, from grandparents to the very young, we have something for you all.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Clr. Elizabeth Rogers, Mayor of Narberth.

A message from the chairman of Narberth Chamber of Trade, Andrew Rees: It is a great honour for me as Narberth’s Chamber of Trade chair, to welcome Observer readers to our wonderful town at this magical time.

Shoppers who come to Narberth at any time of year, but especially at Christmas, are guaranteed a friendly welcome and a personal service. The trend seems to be to do as much Christmas shopping online as possible, and indeed many of our independent shops have an online presence. However, there is nothing like walking down one of the few traditional High Streets left and browsing at the wonderful gifts, food and clothing on offer and picking out a present for that special family member or friend. We have a fantastic range of food shops in which you can purchase all of your Christmas fare and drinks.

Also this year we were nominated for the Great British High Street awards. With nearly 250 entries, Narberth got into the final 12 from the whole of the UK and was one of only three in Wales. Which was a fantastic achievement.

Why not come along and experience for yourself the enchanting atmosphere, the sparkling festive lights and as an added bonus enjoy free car parking on Saturday and Sunday.

And a reminder that tonight (Friday) we will be switching on our Christmas lights. There will be live music and a special appearance by Santa. It starts at 5 pm. Shops will be open until 6.30 pm.

So on behalf of the traders of Narberth, please let the Chamber of Trade welcome you to this unique town and share with you the festive spirit and excitement of the build up to Christmas.

I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019.
