The 2019 Narberth Book Fair, held over the last weekend of September at the Queen’s Hall, is now over for another year, but organisers Judith Barrow and Thorne Moore are delighted with its success.
“We brought together over 50 authors from all over south Wales and beyond,” said Judith, “and the hall was busy with keen readers. It has certainly put Pembrokeshire on the literary map.”
Around 800 people visited the fair over the two days, which coincided with the popular Narberth Food Festival.
Joint organiser Thorne Moore commented: “Reading and eating are a great combination!”
The writers who attended the fair represented every genre, from historical novels to crime fiction, thrillers and science fantasy.
Children’s writer Sharon Tregenza said: “The Narberth Book Fair is so friendly. It’s great to meet up with fellow writers and so many readers and have a good book chat with everyone.”
The fair included a series of workshops for aspiring writers, such as ‘Script Writing - From Story to Screenplay’ by freelance writer and film producer Phil Rowlands and ‘How to Create a Character’ by crime writer Gail Williams.
These sessions were generously supported by Literature Wales and the organisers were overwhelmed by the number of attendees.
“We were thrilled to see so many enthusiastic writers.” said Judith, “I’m certain that fiction writing in Wales is alive and well.”
