Children at Pennar Community School were treated to a special visitor recently as Mr. Clevver's Puppet Company pitched up at the school to perform Nuclear Family, a puppet show focused on the uniqueness of individual personalities and human relationships.
The visit, supported by Communities First, was part of Mr. Clevver's summer tour of Wales, which included performances at castles, abbeys, pubs and other venues.
Mr. Clevver arrived on a self contained truck which opened out to become a theatre, and pupils from Years 5 and 6 sat on benches under the theatre's awning to watch the unique and mysterious show.
Following the performance, pupils were given the opportunity to learn more about the puppets from master puppeteer and Heather Morrison showed the children the box office which converts into a self-sufficient area for living in whilst on tour.
Pip Welton, learning officer from Pembrokeshire Communities First, said: "Mr. Clevver's Puppet Company was an absolute hit with the children and they were amazed at how he moved independently. Introducing such creative art forms to children is just one part of the enrichment programme we deliver in the local area. "
Pennar Community School is one of the six primary schools in Pembrokeshire supported by the Pembrokeshire Communities First programme. The project is a collaboration between Heather and Ivan Morrison and National Theatre Wales
Pembrokeshire Communities First is part of the Co-operative Group Cymru/Wales Membership Team and supports the Pembrokeshire wards of Monkton and St. Mary North, Pembroke; Llanion, Central and Pennar Pembroke Dock; and Garth ward, Haverfordwest.
