A call for more access for mobility scooters in Tenby has been made by a local councillor.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas told her colleagues that there appeared to be more and more people using mobility scooters around the resort and perhaps it was time to meet with the county’s disabled access officer, Alan Hunt, in the town, to look at areas that could perhaps be improved, pointing to South Parade as one example.
Clr. Mike Evans said that Mr. Hunt understood Tenby very well, and that there were ongoing changes to disabled bays in the town which had also greatly improved.
The town clerk said that he had spoken to Mr. Hunt recently, and he was already looking at a section from Butts Field to the Croft where access could be improved.
Clr. Will Rossiter remarked that there was also the ‘creeping menace’ of the A-Frame boards, especially along St. George’s Street, hindering access for mobility scooters.
