A trio of Saundersfoot ‘walking buddies’ have given their thanks to those that sponsored them to take on the Mighty Hike challenge this summer in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Back in July, keen walkers Mandy Matthews, Jane Herring and Hayley Dennis (pictured) hiked 26 miles of the Gower Peninsula for the fundraiser, along the dramatic coastline, which takes in spectacular views over Rhosilli Bay and Worms Head.

The clockwise circular route covered started and finished at Penrice Castle, and is described as ‘a challenging event’ with the distance and terrain to be respected, with lots of training required before hand.

The long-running charity hike began in 1997, attracting thousands of walkers over the years, raising over £1 million for Macmillian Cancer Support.

“We would like to thank everyone that donated prizes and sponsorship which helped us to raise £1015.00 for our recent Macmillan Mighty Hike,” said Mandy, who along with her fellow fundraisers were handed a medal and a welcome glass of champagne at the end of the challenge!
