Sir,
Micro-chipping became law on April 6, 2016. As a rescue centre we are hoping that this will be a great thing for pets and their owners.
Micro-chipping is a great way for an animal to be identified if lost or stolen, so we are hoping that less animals will find themselves needing new homes if the original owner can be traced.
Also in situations where animals are found abandoned or in the worst cases abused, it should help in identifying the registered owner.
It is vitally important that owners remember to keep the chip details up to date and if an animal is re-homed then the chip is transferred to the new owners details.
At Greenacres all our animals are microchipped before adoption, and microchipping is not only for dogs; all animals can be chipped, including ferrets, rabbits and many others. At Greenacres we offer the service for dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets for just £15 per animal.
Greenacres Animal Rescue was founded in 2008 to rescue and rehome unwanted and abandoned animals. In 2015 we rehomed over 1,500 animals to new homes and work tirelessly to promote responsible pet ownership.
