A sign promoting a fundraising event in Pembroke has been stolen.
Sometime during the late afternoon of Tuesday, October 9, the sign board was taken from its position on the grass verge of the hill leading from Pembroke Dock to Pembroke.
The board, one of three, was white with purple lettering and said 'Pembroke Town Hall, Tuesday 10 am - 12.30 pm'.
The three boards together advertised the monthly coffee morning and table-top sale held in Pembroke Town Hall by the Friends of South Pembrokeshire Hospital.
The Friends of South Pembs. Hospital invested in good signage which is put in place just before the event and removed immediately afterwards. To have to replace any of these because of theft, digs into the funds which they are raising to help the patients in South Pembs. Hospital.
The group works tirelessly throughout the year to buy items not covered by the health board. Items like Nimbus mattresses to relieve pressure sores, wheelchairs for patients to borrow enabling them to return home earlier, rehabilitation machines, blood-pressure monitors, and many other items. They are having the gardens landscaped and pay for entertainment in the day centre. All these help make a stay in South Pembs. Hospital a little more comfortable.
The Friends are now seeking volunteers to help at their coffee mornings. Please come along and see if you think you can help on the second Tuesday of every month in the Town Hall, Pembroke, or if you can give a few hours once a month, please contact Sue on 01646 682596
"It is sad to think that anyone would hamper our efforts because of what was probably done as a prank," said a spokeswoman for the Friends.
"Let us hope that no member of their family or friends will need to use the facilities of the hospital. Perhaps this article, should they read it, will make them think a little more carefully in the future."
