The Mayor of Tenby has paid tribute to the town’s Sergeant at Mace, who passed away recently. Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his colleagues that he was saddened to hear of the death of Ernie Vokes, who died peacefully at his home in The Glebe, last month.

“Ernie acted as Sergeant of Mace for a number of years and as assistant Mace Bearer for some time before that.

“He always served the town’s Mayors with great distinction, lots of humour and great dignity,” said Clr. Blackhall, before joining those around the council chamber table to stand in a moments silence in memory of Mr. Vokes.
