It’s certainly been an exciting and unforgettable year for Tenby’s Mayor and Mayoress, Clr. Laurence Blackhall and Samantha Skymre.
But it’s all set to get even more memorable for them, for they will be soon be exchanging their chains of office for.... wedding rings!
After telling close friends, they announced their engagement to the congregation at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday morning and will be tying the knot on Saturday, August 6.
Laurence is one of the St. Mary’s ‘Soupermen’ and also warden at St. Julian’s Church on the harbour, while Samantha is a teaching assistant at Tavernspite School and is a member of the St. Mary’s Church choir.
They will be married by the Rector, Canon Andrew Grace, while family members will be bridesmaids and best man.
The ceremony will be followed by drinks and canapés for all in the church and a private family reception in Church House.
“We are absolutely delighted,” said a beaming Laurence. “We will be discarding our Mayoral chains, but swapping them for wedding rings.
“It’s been a very good year. I’ll be standing down in May and there are still a few things to do, but I’m now looking forward to the next ‘project’ even more!” he added.
