Monkton Young People First with Eco Centre Wales are holding a low carbon cook-off at the Old Priory Inn, Monkton on Tuesday, March 5, 6-7 pm, as part of Climate Change Week.
Two teams will compete to come up with the tastiest and most environmentally friendly dish. Come to this free event, taste the food and vote for who wins. Learn about sustainable food choices, low carbon cooking and hopefully some new recipes.
The prize-winning low carbon cook-off project looks at the environmental impacts of our food choices in a fun and engaging way with a good dollop of healthy competition. Since its inception in April 2011, the low carbon cook-off has featured at food festivals and community events locally and across Wales.
Thanks to a grant from the Welsh Government awarded last summer at the Hay Festival's Green Dragon's Den, the low carbon cook-off team have continued hosting cook-offs, including a workshop at Pembroke food project launch, Elizabeth Gossage, of Pembroke 21C, described the event as "a great success and really engaged the audience in discussing and thinking about the issues surrounding the environmental and social impact of their food ...a really entertaining, enjoyable but instructive event and we cannot praise it highly enough."
