Pictured are Norman and Judy Hughes, of Tenby, handing over a cheque to Trish Jones for Ty Hafan. The donation were the proceeds of their very own ‘lockdown library’, which might just be back next spring, the couple have revealed.
During lockdown Judy and Norman Hughes decided to clear their book shelves and sell the books from the porch of their house on the Norton, Tenby. They set up a ‘lockdown library’ and decided to donate any proceeds to Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.
It became a great success and people started to contribute books and donate.
The ‘library’ continued to operate even when lockdown finished and by the time they decided to close down Judy and Norman had raised the grand total of £1,660, which equates to approximately 3,000 books being sold.
“This amount exceeded all our expectations and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed either by giving books and/or buying books,” said Judy Hughes.
“Thankyou one and all; it made the whole effort very worthwhile for us and, who knows? Maybe we will be back again next spring.”
