After a second year of successful fundraising, the Nolan Charity Fund, a Welsh charity set up in 2015 by Nolan uPVC businessman Nolan Nicholas to work hand in hand for the benefit of worthy causes in Wales, has donated a share of £15,000 to beneficiaries in Pembrokeshire.
Each of the beneficiaries were recognised at the charity’s second, annual presentation evening at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli, by the charity’s trustees Nolan Nicholas and Robert Taylor in front of more than 60 invited guests, including chairman of Llanelli Rural Council, Clr. Steve M. Donoghue.
Benefiting from a share of the money raised by the charity in 2016 are, from Pembrokeshire, Hywel Dda Health Charities receiving £1,300 to purchase iPads and DVD players for the children’s wards at Withybush, Bronglais and Glangwili hospitals, and Tenby Surf Life Saving Club received £1,080, which has funded the purchase of 60 new rash vests for the club’s members, essential kit for the water-based training either in the sea or local swimming pool and for securing our future lifeguards.
Speaking after the presentation evening, Nolan Charity Fund founder and trustee, Nolan Nicholas, said: “It was a wonderful evening and a great way to mark two years as a charity.
“We have now donated over £25,000 to nearly 20 worthy causes in Wales since the charity began, and to recognise this year’s beneficiaries was a great honour for me.
“There are so many organisations that need a helping hand to realise their goals and aspirations and I am so please to see that the Nolan Charity Fund is able to do this to ensure all the good work in Wales can continue.”
On receiving their funding, Emmet Johnson, Tenby Surf Life Saving Club head coach, said: “Its amazing news to have received funding from the Nolan Charity Fund. We are all delighted. It isn’t easy to buy equipment to train the youngsters and maintain the clubhouse on a small budget, so additional funds like this is a great way of receiving the help we need, thank you.”
Tara Nickerson from Hywel Dda Health Charities said: “We are absolutely delighted with the decision by the Nolan Charity Fund to fund the items and this will make a huge difference to our patient experience. It will go towards making a stay in hospital as relaxing and comfortable as possible and will keep children amused and distract them from their illness and pain during their treatment.
“Sometimes children spend a long time in hospital and we try and ensure that things are as normal as possible.”
In total, 11 beneficiaries will share the donation of £15,000.
