Elly Neville and her Ward 10 Flag recently met up with Lisa Wells and her partner Mark Davies who had decided to run the Swansea Half Marathon to raise funds for her appeal.
Lisa said: “I wanted to run in memory of my dad who unfortunately passed away in September 2016 after his short battle with cancer.
“We wanted to raise money to help Elly’s Ward 10 flag appeal as all the staff and the day unit were fantastic with both my mum and dad while they were treated there.”
Elly’s dad, Lyn, said: “Lisa contacted us to ask if she and Mark could raise funds for Elly’s Appeal by taking part in the half marathon. We were delighted, even if we thought they must be crazy to run that far and we were very grateful for their support. Their help is very much appreciated by us and all the nurses, staff and patients on Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.”
Lisa and Mark ran the half marathon and Lisa beat her personal best time by nine minutes finishing in two hours and 25 minutes and they crossed the finish line together. They also raised a fantastic £456.20 for the appeal. They are hoping to raise more funds for Ward 10 in the near future as it is very close to their hearts.
Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal is raising funds for patient experience and environment on the Ward 10 (cancer ward) at Withybush Hospital.
Elly and her family are continuing to seek donations via their Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ward10Flag and please give the Facebook page a like - search Ward 10 Flag.
